Pastor Scot C. Moore

Pastor Scot Moore - photoPraise and worship describes the ministry of Pastor Scot C. Moore, the ministry he has known that he was called to since the age of thirteen. He preached his trial sermon on October 6, 1994, at Full Gospel A.M.E. Zion Church, Temple Hills, MD.  In 1996,  when Bishop Milton A. Williams, Sr. gave him an appointment to start a church, he chose the name Judah Temple, which means “house of praise.” On May 24, 1997, at the 168th Session of the Philadelphia and Baltimore Annual Conference, Pastor Moore was ordained an Elder, meaning, he received full authority to consecrate the elements for communion and perform all rites and rituals within the A.M.E. Zion Church.

Prior to his appointment, Pastor Moore served as Praise and Worship leader at Full Gospel A.M.E. Zion Church and also as the National Praise Director of Young Adults in Christian Ministry in the A.M.E. Zion Church. A gifted vocalist, he has been a part of numerous recordings including those with the A.M.E. Zion Mass Choir, Pastor William Becton and Pastor Jamilla Woods.

Scot C. Moore was born in Mount Vernon, New York and was raised in a single parent household with his mother and three brothers. He attended public schools there and later graduated from Hofstra University. His spiritual education began at Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church in Mt. Vernon, where his older brother Rev. W. Darin Moore now serves as Pastor and continued at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.

Pastor Moore is married to Sharon R. Moore and they have two sons, Cameron and Dimitri.

During an interview, a reporter asked Pastor Moore, "what do you most want members of Judah to know"? He responded:

"My heart’s desire of Judah is that the people would have a personal relationship with God. I want them to strive to know Him for themselves, and not just by listening to me on Sunday. It’s crucial to learn God’s voice, to know when He’s speaking to them and make decisions based on what God says so they can be led by Him in all things. When those things are happening, Judah will be better, and my job will be easier because everyone will be hearing from God. That is not to say that my job would be eliminated, but I’d mostly just confirm what God said. As long as we’re in the flesh, I know there will continue to be those who want to live off of someone else’s relationship. I pray that each of us will come to the understanding that God loves us, He is our individual and personal God, and that we really can have a one-on-one relationship with Him."
